UTRECHT, The Netherlands, January 22, 2015

- Interrail begins the Year begins with good news for rail travellers of all ages

Interrail is setting the standard for European train travel this year by offering a variety of new product enhancements for 2015. Young people, families, adults and seniors now have even better possibilities to explore Europe by train.

Since its inception in 1972, Interrail has been widely perceived as a youth product. However, recently there has been a growing interest amongst families, adults and seniors in train holidays. Reacting to this trend, Interrail has started 2015 by introducing the Family Concept, which allows up to two children aged between 4 and 11 years to travel for free with a family member or friend who has an Adult Interrail Pass.

Furthermore, with the introduction of the 1st Class Youth Pass, it is now possible for young people between the age of 12 and 25 to join their family and friends in the comfort of first class travel. The Youth Pass was previously only available in second class and, what's more, is now available at 20% less than the price of an Adult Pass. Senior and adult travellers, however, have not been excluded from the positive product developments, as the prices of the Senior and Adult Passes have both decreased by 6,5% in price.

Alongside these product changes, the Interrail Pass concept has now become more accessible. Previously, terms of eligibility required non-European travellers to prove residency in Europe of at least six months. Now, however, travellers only need to provide proof of European residency, irrespective of how long they have lived in Europe for. As such, Interrail now gives the growing number of non-European expats the opportunity to explore the cultural, historical and geographical richness of the continent by train.

Interrail Passes are sold by the local European railways and at Interrail.eu.
